Just finished recording the vocals to a cover of "Imagine" by John Lennon:

This is the first time that I have not performed all of the instruments, etc for a song but collaborated with another artist. I think it turned out great! Unfortunately, the video is a little choppy but that's just because I've been playing with the format to try and make it look better in YouTube and this time achieved the opposite effect.

Oh well, trial and error I suppose.

so i have what i would consider to be a pretty vast taste in music.. being that it runs the gamut anywhere from "sleepytime gorilla museum" (avant-garde progressive metal) to "Cracker" and "The Refreshments" (90's sort-of alt/southern rock) to "Del Tha Funkee Homosapien" and "Aesop Rock" (intelligent modern hip-hop).

but what i like the most about music exists outside of any specific genre. my absolute favorite songs always have in common great melodies from the vocals or lead instruments and a well-developed structure (not necessarily complex but with good transitional elements).

the most recent song that i've uploaded to my youtube account (as of 10/01/2007) was "sparks" by coldplay. a lot of people have tried to jab at coldplay's music because of pre-conceived notions of the band and their fans as being "wussy". and well, that's fine i suppose- i still enjoy listening to it. in fact, the album "parachutes" by coldplay is still in high rotation in my car's cd player.

and if i'm a wuss, at least i'm one that counts meshuggah and opeth among his favorite bands. (not sure why i felt the need to write that, but now, well, it's already written). =D

so i had no idea how nutty some of the animals that live on this earth are. though i think the most ridiculous - and therefore the best - animal has to be the "blobfish". apparently it lives under immense pressure in deep waters off the coast of australia.

(http://divaboo.info, the site from which i'm getting this information, says that it lives off the coast of tasmania as well.. but i maintain that tasmania is a made up place that exists only in one's imagination)

other notable freaks of the animal kingdom include: the aye-aye, the axolotl, the star-nosed mole, rosie o'donnell , and the leafy seadragon. err, well.. perhaps i'm being a little hard on the leafy seadragon. =P
